Fintry Provincial Park Fuel Reduction, Bug Removal
Project consisted of removal of designated trees to create an area of reduced vegetation stocking levels, to produce a defensible area adjacent to structures on the boundary of the park. A secondary objective was to remove and destroy trees infected with western pine beetle.
- Selective cutting of designated stems to reduce stocking levels to approximately 300 stems per ha.
- Piling of stems into burn piles using walking excavator.
- Burning of piles and dispersal of residue.

Modify forest fuel levels to reduce intensity of wildfires that may occur.
